Scheduling System Inc., SSI, is a privately held company located in Framingham, Massachusetts, which is about 20 miles west of downtown Boston. John Pararas, a MIT graduate, and researcher founded the company in 1990. He had spent years working in the Transportation Lab of MIT, researching and developing solutions for the many problems facing the aviation community. Through the years, he discovered that there was a need for on going support and development for the models, algorithms and decision support tools that were being released to the industry. Hence the decision was made to leave the academia community of MIT and start Scheduling Systems Inc.
Initially, our clientele were a small group of mainly governmental and airport operators. Today, we are proud to state that we are one of the leading software companies developing, integrating, and implementing operational and planning software to the aviation community. The SSI workforce is comprised almost entirely of software engineers who have many years of development experience. Our staff is lead by a team of professionals with a combined experience of almost a century in aviation operations and system development and integration.

John Pararas, President and CEO
John holds three degrees from MIT including a Ph.D. in Flight Transportation and Operations Research. He has over 35 years of experience in airline systems analysis both as a researcher at MIT and as a practitioner. He personally takes overall responsibility for all projects and directs the algorithmic development efforts of the company.
Albert L. Asber, Vice President of Operations
Al is responsible for all of SSI operations worldwide, with over 35 years of operational experince. Before joining SSI, Al had 25 years of diverse airline operational experience at two major carriers. He has worked in most major airline divisions including maintenance, crew scheduling & planning, flight dispatch, operation’s management & planning and SOC re-engineering. In addition, he brings more than 15 years of project management experience to his role as VP of Operations.
Ahmet Buharali, Vice President Development
Ahmet holds a master’s degree from MIT in "Man Machine Interfaces" and has over 35 years of software development experience. Prior to joining SSI, he operated a successful software company that provided customized toolsets to the gas and petroleum industry, which he founded. His background provides an excellent foundation in supporting his role to lead the software development team and responsible for system integrations and user interface issues.
